 One year of GalChimia Letters
You have on your screen the seven number of our newsletter. When we started with this project our intention was to offer a useful tool to the community of organic chemists, with a special stress on those working in the medicinal chemistry field: accomplished. Some colleagues told us that they had found the newsletter useful and interesting, and a refreshing way to keep in touch with some developments in the field. So once again, thanks to everybody.
 Copper mediated monomethylation
Although selective monoarylation of anilines can be easily achieved, aniline monomethylation represents a challenging task which has been barely investigated despite the prevalence of the methylamino moiety in drug candidates. The absence of a really efficient process for this transformation prompted us to undertake, as a part of our own R&D projects, the development of a method for the selective monomethylation of anilines and other heterocyclic amines.

Review of the month : Cross Coupling
The development of cross coupling reactions is one of the most innovative fields in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. The advances in recent years have greatly increased their scope and practicality and these transformations have become part of the everyday repertoire of the synthetic chemist. When facing the synthesis of a new product, many chemists think now in possible disconnections according to these reactions. So this time we have selected for our newsletter a full issue of the Accounts on Chemical Research (issue 11, 2008) devoted to detail the last novelties about cross couplings and their uses for the C-C and C-X bond formation.

 Our services : Reaction Optimization
Design of Experiments (DoE) sounds familiar to all process chemists. In GalChimia we apply DoE principles to the everyday work in order to tune important reactions of your process. Additionally, we have also improved and optimized pivotal reactions used in drug discovery projects, so the chemists can use their time in the critical process of preparing new compounds. If you have a reaction which needs to be improved, ask us.
