Our CSO Jacobo Cruces had the pleasure of speaking this July at the IX SEQT Summer School “Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology in Drug Discovery: the Pharma Perspective”, organized by Sociedad Española de Química Terapéutica (SEQT) and hosted by FAES FARMA. The meeting was held on July 15-17 2025 in Bilbao, Spain.
A forum for scientific discussions, the school aims at approaching the pharma industry to young researchers, both graduate students and post-doctoral associates working in the chemistry and health sciences related fields. For three days, the participants had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge research in drug discovery while gaining a full understanding of the pharmaceutical development process.
As in other editions, the scientific program included several workshops covered by speakers from different pharmaceutical and biotech companies:
Early Drug Discovery
Workshop 1: Drug Discovery Program Introduction; Alejandro Revuelto (Lilly)
Workshop 2: Target ID and Validation Strategies; Manuel Sanclemente (Lilly)
Workshop 3: Hit ID and Validation Strategies; Gianluca Sbardella (EFMC)
From Hit to Candidate
Workshop 4: New technologies in Organic Chemistry and their application to Medicinal Chemistry; José Enrique Gómez (J&J Innovative Medicine Spain)
Workshop 5: ADME properties and designing by purpose; Jordi Bach (Almirall)
Drug Development
Workshop 6: Drug development and Scale up; Jacobo Cruces (GalChimia)
Workshop 7: Drug Delivery: Formulation Optimization and Bioavailability; José Luis Velada (Faes Farma)
Workshop 8: Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology; Mridvika Narda (Almirall)
Workshop 9: Clinical Development and Case Study; Ana Palma (Faes Farma)
Workshop 10: Introduction to the Patent System; Iain A. McGeoch & Susana Egusquiaguirre (ABG Intellectual Property)
The school was a great success, our congratulations to the organizers!
